Nucleic Acid Purification

The development of non-chaotropic chemistry for nucleic acid sample preparation by STRATEC Molecular (former Invitek) is a major milestone in the history of DNA/RNA purification methods. With non-chaotropic chemistry the most gentle buffers can be used both for nucleic acid purification and for highly efficient enzymatic lysis of complex samples. Furthermore, very low salt concentrations can be used enabling the development of very fast DNA/RNA purification protocols.

Based on this unique and proprietary core technology, several innovative sample preparation and purification solutions could be developed by the STRATEC Molecular team: MSB - Minimal Salt Binding, RTP - Ready to Prep, and PSP – Preanalytical Sample Processing for DNA stabilization are only possible through the use of non-chaotropic chemistry.

The InviMag technology combines the advantages of innovative nucleic acid purification technologies with the easy handling of modified magnetic particles. The InviMag kits allow for the highest flexibility in multiple applications.

Further innovations introduced by STRATEC Molecular are the carrier based isolation of genomic DNA from extremely small amounts of highly contaminated biological materials (forensic samples) or InviTrap - the selective removal of assay-interfering DNA from RNA purifications. RNAsure is a unique technology licensed by STRATEC Biomedical which will be further developed by STRATEC Molecular. This technology provides a novel way to collect, stabilize, and purify RNA (and DNA) for molecular diagnostic purposes.

These technologies are the basis of a broad product range of ready-to-use kits, suitable for the manual preparation of highly purified nucleic acids, as well as high-throughput purification of DNA and/or RNA from various starting materials on well established automated laboratory workstations, manifolds and centrifuges.
